About this event

Join us at The Exchange Orana, on Thursday 3rd of July for the launch of Belonging, an exhibition by Phoebe Maroulis and Pip Stalley-Batten, a visual conversation about what it means to belong to and be shaped by a place.

In Belonging, Pip Stalley and Phoebe Maroulis offer a visual conversation, one rooted in the textures, forms, and emotional cartographies of place. Drawing from deep relationships with the landscapes of Bourke, each artist traces how personal and intergenerational stories are etched into soil, memory, and material.

This exhibition is not about definitive answers but about shared questions:

What does “belonging” mean when the ground itself shifts, through aging parents, inheritance uncertainties, social and relational change?

Can connection endure without possession? What creates connection in the first place? Does connection require permission?

What kinds of relationships to land are possible when we move beyond ownership toward stewardship and reciprocity?

"Belonging" holds space for layered relationships, between human and Country, between past and future, between longing and letting go. It is an invitation to sit with complexity, to trace the patterns beneath the surface, and to meet land not as something outside ourselves, but as something that lives within and through us.

Come along to celebrate the exhibition launch with a relaxed evening of bubbles and conversation.
