Taronga Western Plains Zoo

Taronga Western Plains Zoo Dubbo offers a range of accessible facilities to help all visitors enjoy their experience with ease and confidence.

Parking
Accessible parking is available at the main entrance and throughout the Zoo circuit, providing easy access to exhibits and visitor facilities.

Access
Most of the Zoo is wheelchair accessible, with flat terrain and short distances between exhibits. While the African Savannah Tower is not wheelchair accessible, the exhibit can still be enjoyed from ground level.

Wheelchair hire
Manual, all-terrain wheelchairs are available free of charge (ID required). Chairs must be pushed by a companion, and enclosed footwear is required. Advanced bookings are recommended on (02) 6881 1400. Collect from the Hire Centre on arrival.

Accessible toilets
Wheelchair-accessible toilets are located around the Zoo circuit and at Savannah Visitor Plaza.

Carers and companions
Free entry is available for carers or essential companions. A valid Companion Card or letter from a recognised support organisation is required.

First Aid
A fully equipped First Aid Centre and trained staff are available onsite. The centre is located next to the Information Centre.

Assistance animals
Certified assistance dogs are welcome. Due to the nature of the Zoo, conditions apply—please contact the Zoo prior to your visit to make arrangements.

Interactive experiences
Tactile animal models are located throughout the Zoo, including rhino, giraffe, elephant and hippo displays. The Safari Playground also features accessible, hands-on elements for children of all abilities.

Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre

Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre (DRTCC) is designed to provide accessible and inclusive experiences for all visitors.

Level access points
Step-free entry is available at the main entrance, with smooth pathways guiding visitors from entry through to foyer and auditorium spaces.

Stairs
Stairs are located within the venue, including access to upper seating areas. Handrails are provided, and alternative accessible seating options are available.

Accessible facilities
Accessible toilets are available onsite, along with designated seating areas within the auditorium to accommodate wheelchair users and those with mobility needs.

Companion Cards
The venue supports the NSW Companion Card program. Cardholders purchasing a ticket through the Box Office receive a complimentary ticket for their companion.

Sensory sensitive
Visitors with sensory sensitivities are encouraged to contact the Box Office prior to attending. Staff can assist with suitable seating, quieter performances and access requirements.

Guide dogs
Certified guide and assistance dogs are welcome within the venue. It is recommended to notify staff in advance to ensure appropriate seating arrangements.

Social story
A social story is available to help visitors understand what to expect when attending the venue, supporting those who benefit from familiarisation before arrival. Download a copy of the DRTCC's social story here.

Wheelchair bookings
Wheelchair-accessible seating is available and can be booked through the Box Office. Early booking is recommended to ensure availability and the best seating options.




Western Plains Cultural Centre

Western Plains Cultural Centre offers accessible and inclusive experiences across its gallery and museum spaces.

Virtual tour
Explore the Centre from anywhere with an immersive online virtual tour, providing access to exhibitions and collections for those unable to visit in person. Access the Virtual tour here.

Access
Accessible parking is available onsite, with step-free entry throughout the facility. The gallery and museum spaces are wheelchair accessible, and a courtesy wheelchair is available for visitor use.

Accessible toilets are available within the Centre, along with wide pathways and open exhibition spaces designed for ease of movement.

Audio descriptions
Select exhibitions feature accessible elements such as audio descriptions. Visitors are encouraged to contact staff ahead of their visit to learn about current accessibility features.

Certified assistance dogs are welcome throughout the gallery and museum spaces.

Old Dubbo Gaol

Old Dubbo Gaol offers accessible experiences, allowing all visitors to explore this historic site with greater ease and comfort.

Access
Ramped entry is available to key buildings, with pathways throughout the site designed to support easier movement. Seating is located across the Gaol to allow visitors to rest as they explore.

Accessible facilities
Accessible toilets are available onsite, supporting visitors with mobility needs.

Sensory friendly
Sensory-friendly visits can be arranged, with adjustments such as reduced lighting, lowered sound levels and deactivated talking mannequins. Pet friendly
Old Dubbo Gaol is pet friendly. Visitors may bring leashed, well-behaved pets, provided they are supervised at all times and cleaned up after.
