About this event

The Science and Engineering Challenge is conducted by combined Rotary clubs of Dubbo and surrounding district. It is an annual event in which secondary school and primary school students compete in Dubbo.

The Challenge has been conducted in Dubbo every year since it began in 2000, except in 2020, when the pandemic forced its cancellation. This year the Challenge will run from Monday April 4 to Thursday April 7 at Dubbo Showground.

The Science and Engineering Challenge (SEC) is a nationwide Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) outreach program presented by the University of Newcastle in partnership with communities, Rotary clubs, universities and other sponsors.
Through the SEC, students experience aspects of science and engineering which they would not usually see in their school environment. It focuses on inspiring year 10 students to consider a future career in science and engineering by choosing to study the enabling sciences and mathematics in years 11 and 12.

This event is not open to spectators.
